Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has ramped up his attack on referees' chief Mark Riley in the aftermath of his side's agonising 2-1 defeat by Chelsea on Sunday.
Warnock blasted Premier League referees as the 'worst in the world' following the loss, but was in no mood for reflection on Monday morning as he stepped up his attack on officials.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, the 70-year-old revealed his wife said she would have had no problem with him 'thumping' referee Craig Pawson and his assistants after their botched decisions cost Cardiff the game.
He said: 'When I came in yesterday, my wife said to me: 'Darling, if you had wanted to thump the referee and linesman, I wouldn’t have stopped you’. It was so unjust.'
Warnock then continued his rant against the officials, who missed Cesar Azpilicueta standing in an offside position before his 86th minute equaliser and didn't send off defender Antonio Rudiger despite a clear foul, moments before Ruben Loftus-Cheek's last-gasp winner.
'I’m obviously gutted,' he continued. 'It’s just… well it’s unbelievable. I can’t describe my feelings. That could be the decision that costs us everything, because I thought we could put pressure on the other clubs, but now we’re battling against the odds again'.
'The linesman yesterday said sorry to me after the game, but it’s too late, what good is an apology?!
Warnock, who is likely to face an FA charge for his post-match rant in which he branded Premier League refs as 'the worst in the world', then seemingly accused officials of colluding against his team because of his previous behaviour.
'We’re having too many honest mistakes and it’s always the top teams who get the decisions. You just feel it’s such an injustice, and I’ve felt like that ever since Christmas.
'You almost begin to think, is it me? Is it payback time for all the years I’ve shouted at referees? Have they all got together now and said, ''let’s get him out of this place''?'
His rant on Monday morning followed ugly scenes at Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday, where an irate Warnock argued on the touchline with the fourth official before entering the pitch to argue with Chelsea players and stare down Pawson and his assistants following the controversial loss.
The result leaves Cardiff five points from safety and Warnock believes the number of errors he has been on the wrong side of raises questions over the work of Riley as General Manger of the Professional Game Match Officials.
'Riley was like a robot,' Warnock told talkSPORT on Monday. 'He didn't have any feeling. He knew the laws but didn't know the game. That is what they are all like.
'I don’t think they [referees] are educated enough. I don’t think things will change until Riley goes which is so unlikely as he is rooted in.'
'They’ve got to have better coaching than what they have now. He said Willian got in his way or something.'
Cardiff are five points adrift of 17th-place Burnley with seven matches remaining but they are next in action on Wednesday away to Manchester City.
The former Sheffield United manager was so angry following the game that he delayed his post-match television interview for fear of saying something he'd regret.
When he eventually spoke to the media after the game, he said: 'To get let down by the officials... roll on VAR. I had to go into the bathroom and bite my knuckles but I didn't tell the lads that.
'It's the best league in the world but the worst officials. They don't understand what is at stake.
'It's not our fault an official can't see that, it is the most obvious offside I have ever seen or the most certain penalty I have ever seen.

Over 24 hours later and I still feel angry. I’m not sure how such a great league can get it so wrong. Embarrassing for the EPL and completely unfair for the Bluebirds.

You win the title or get relegated by the match officials... That's the EPL!

Dave was offside ? No he wasn't ... He was miles offside ... It took a very inept ref to totally missed it and an even more inept ref to defend him

Just for once he is quite right. Riley was a terrible referee and so is Pawson amongst many others. That was a terrible decision yesterday and not the only one. Almost certainly relegated Cardiff who may have gone down anyway but should have at least been given the chance. VAR cannot come soon enough!

The officials at this game were a disgrace to the game of football. They should be banned from entering any football ground let alone officiate another game. Better still they should be locked up

There are understandable mistakes and then there is this linesman missing the most obvious offside you will ever see. He should be the one up before the FA this morning, to explain his utter incompetence.

Headache for the FA. On one end, Warnock must be severely punished for hammering the ref, on an other end, it is hard to seriously punished someone who is 100 % in his assessment of the ref;

As someone who was at the game my observation was that the referee had an very poor game. His decision making was flawed for the the Cardiff and Chelsea teams. We are approaching the point in the season were the referee's judgement will effect the lives of players, managers and clubs. Tough calls needs to be verified.

Neil Warnock was absolutely distraught & rightly so the match officials were totally clueless & should never be allowed to officiate any football game again they made so many bad decisions it was unforgivable & it is them who should be punished & not Neil Warnock who was perfectly correct in his criticism of them.

Terrible decision for the equaliser, it's no wonder Neil Warnock raging.

Mark Riley is the ex guitarist of "the fall". Mike Riley is the man who booked Petr Cech for timewasting as he crawled from the pitch at Reading with a fractured skull and got a promotion for his efforts. There's an easy way to remember which Riley is which . Mark played guitar in the fall Mike nearly killed Cech with his ingrained incompetence.

One error by officials can be permitted as they are only human but 4 key errors against a team fighting for top flight survival isn't right. I know if I made 4 big mistakes at work my boss would be questioning my ability. Feel for Cardiff here

How could he say he was blinded? It`s a clear view across the pitch . Warnock is right to be very upset.

Warnock may need to take one for the team for things to change. They are going to punish him for the comments regardless of whether he's right or not. Warnock should forget about appealing or any intermediaries and get a team lawyers and sue the lot. They may frown upon it, but it still is a fundamental right.

It doesn't matter how this is dressed up or who it is or what action is taken against Warnock, they got it wrong and until the FA address the problem nothing will change. What would have happened if it was Man City winning the last game of the season, the opposition scored an offside goal and Liverpool win the title?

Why couldn't the fourth official step-in and overrule the decision. It's just simple common sense.

Appalling officiating which could result in Cardiff losing their top flight status. Punish the referee and his non-flag waving assistant
