Nemanja Matic has quit AS Roma for Rennes.
The veteran midfielder has left in bitter circumstances with many teammates and coach Jose Mourinho disappointed by his decision.
Rennes are paying a fee rising to €3m for Matic.
The midfielder arrived a year ago from Manchester United and established himself as one of the most popular members of the squad, hence the disappointment with his decision to leave.
Roma are eyeing PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes as a replacement.

Zaniolo believed he took Roma to ECL final and so tried to hold the club to ransom but they didn't allow him and he left. After he left, Roma got to the EL final. Matic leaving is a calculated move. More midfielders are coming into Roma. So, he does want a second player role. Besides, Lens are playing UCL. All of these were factored in. so, it is a good move for him and both parties at the end

Don't blame Matic. He knows why he left. He knows his body may not do better next year and so results in low performance. He is taken the best decision but Roma and its fans are not seeing it

Yeah, I support him leaving. Roma gave him just 1year contract with 1year option which, while rennes offered him 2years with another 1year option. Roma is not ready to spend money, and after this year, Matic will b off contract, but he got another 3 years contract. I will go for the opportunity too. Yeah, Mourinho will b sad but he will understand matic, this business and also, matic life. Mourinho himself will not renew his contract, he will leave. Matic is his boy, they will hook up back later in future, may b as one of coaching assistants. Watch!!!
