Manchester United's former players will open up on the club's shock relegation in 1974 when their fate was confirmed after losing to rivals Manchester City.
To add insult to injury, it was former Old Trafford hero Denis Law who scored the goal that sent United down to the Second Division.
The result proved to be insignificant as Birmingham won to ensure they stayed in the First Division and sent the Red Devils down for the first time in 36 years.
And now the likes of Lou Macari and Paddy Crerand have revealed all during the new BT film titled 'Too good to go down'.
Even Law, who continues to be idolised at Old Trafford despite his decision to join Manchester City for that fateful season, discusses his role in United's relegation from the top flight.
Law, speaking in the new documentary, says when asked why people always say his goal sent United down: 'Yes I know, what I can I do? It was a fluke anyway. I mean, I had no idea where the ball was when I scored the goal. So… didn't celebrate anyway.'
Crerand, who was the assistant manager at United between 1972 and 1976, said Law was worried about going home after the Red Devils' relegation.
'Denis didn't know what to do, he told me afterwards that he was afraid to go home in case there been a crowd outside his house or something like that, obviously with having being an ex-United player and one of the greatest ex-United players,' reveals Crerand.
Macari, who was part of the squad which were relegated, adds: 'I think when you wake up in the morning of a game against Man City you'll always treating that different to a normal game added into that we were in serious trouble and needed the points and I think we arrived at Old Trafford more nervous than we would do in any of the previous games we had played in.
'Well to this day people say it was Denis, it was revenge for Denis the fact that the Doc you know, was a manager when he left Old Trafford that was never the case, Denis didn't want to see Manchester United relegated and actually as we all know now, his goal didn't relegate us.'
Manchester United bounced straight back to the First Division by topping the second tier table.
Too Good to Go Down, the next film in its award-winning BT Sport Films series, will premiere at 10.30pm on Wednesday December 5 on BT Sport 1.

if man united keeps playing like now, relegation will not be impossible in the future . I am just stating the truth, but I hope I will be wrong. it will be sad to see one of the biggest clubs happens to them if it occurs
Worry about your club

Only Arsenal is yet to test relegation in the EPL challenge. United has gone through a lot will always bounce back after a torrid performance. We are simply too good to go down.
