Newcastle and Everton linked possible summer transfer for Thomas Muller

Bayern Munich and Germany legend Thomas Muller could be set for a move to England, with Everton and Newcastle United making overtures for the 33-year-old.

Muller has just 18 months left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, where he has won everything there is to win.

And German outlet SportBild reckon that the Toffees and the Toon are interested in bringing him to England as he enters the twilight of his career.

Both sides are certainly in need of attacking reinforcements, with Everton missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin for large parts of the season and Newcastle without Callum Wilson.

Newcastle are rumoured to be on the verge of bringing in Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon, and Muller's arrival would certainly increase their strength in depth in attacking areas.

Everton are still without a manager as their hunt to replace Rafa Benitez goes on, and any move for Muller would have to be sanctioned by the club's hierarchy.

Muller's Bayern record

Muller has spent his entire career at Bayern and though he is into his 14th season at senior level at the club, he is as evergreen as ever with nine goals and a remarkable 20 assists this term under Julian Nagelsmann.

He currently has the third-most appearances ever for the club on 610, with 223 goals - behind only Gerd Muller and Robert Lewandowski.

It is thought that, with Bayern still alive in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, a Premier League move for Muller would likely happen next summer as opposed to right now.
