Newcastle United have appointed Saudi Public Investment Fund advisor and CEO of Saudi Golf Federation Majed Al Sorour as a director.
Sorour, who is also CEO of Golf Saudi and has been on the board of Riyadh football club Al-Nassr, was today registered on Newcastle's Company House filings.
The appointment comes less than 24 hours after a new green-and-white away kit was revealed for next season, which has a striking resemblance to the national team kit of the Gulf state.
Newcastle's crest, as well as the trim of the neck and sleeves, have been coloured green on an all-white backdrop, bearing a striking resemblance to the shirt of the Saudi national team.
The club will see the design as a chance to increase revenue streams via shirt sales in Saudi, whilst also representing their majority owners.
Sorour is the fourth member on Newcastle's board of directors, alongside minority shareholders Amanda Staveley, Jamie Reuben and Saudi royal court advisor Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquired an 80 per cent stake in the club in October for £305m, with the Premier League assured there were no connections between PIF and the Saudi state.
Sorour was present for the first game under PIF's tenure, a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park.
Sorour has led Saudi's drive to bring golfers to the country in recent years, having been on the board of the respective golf bodies since 2018,
The Magpies play their final home match of the season at home to Arsenal on Monday night.
