Calciomercatweb says the Magpies are tempted to test Milan's resolve with a £25.8 million bid after his poor start to life at the San Siro, though director Paolo Maldini is said to have no interest in selling him.

Milan beat Leeds United to the signature of De Ketelaere in the summer despite the Whites' willingness to pay a club record fee.
