Next Tottenham manager shortlist amid Antonio Conte sacked rumours

Mauricio Pochettino heads the list of candidates should Daniel Levy make a change during the international break with Antonio Conte reportedly set to leave the north Londoners

Although his contract expires this summer, Saturday’s remarkable outburst may leave Daniel Levy no choice but to relieve the head coach of his duties before the season reaches its conclusion. The rant came after Conte witnessed his side throw away a 3-1 advantage to draw 3-3 against the Premier League’s bottom side Southampton.

Pressure had already begun to ramp up on the Spurs manager after his side were dumped out of the Champions League and FA Cup this month. Following lacklustre defeats in both competitions, the club’s barren trophyless run, which stretches back to 2008, has been extended by another season.

Spurs’ draw at St Mary’s was their last match for two weeks as club football takes a backseat during the final international break of the season. This could prove an ideal opportunity for Daniel Levy to prematurely pull the plug on Conte’s Tottenham tenure.

And according to the Telegraph, Conte is set to leave the club in the coming days - and current first-team coach Ryan Mason could take over until the end of the season on an interim basis - as he did when Jose Mourinho was sacked as head-coach in 2021.

According to Skybet, Mason is the favourite to be the next permanent manager at Spurs at 1/10 - though that is coloured by the likelihood of him taking over on an interim basis.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Austrian coach Oliver Glasner is perhaps a surprise name in at third favourite at a price of 8/1, but the manager does have European pedigree after guiding his side to the 2021/22 Europa League title.

Two managers enjoying excellent campaigns with their respective clubs are priced at 16/1 in the form of Marco Silva and Vincent Kompany. Silva currently has newly-promoted Fulham competing well in the top-half of the Premier League while Kompany's Burnley side are romping to the Championship title, and they are joined at that price by former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Here are 10 managers tipped to become Spurs boss if Conte does leave, according to Skybet:

Ryan Mason - 1/10

Mauricio Pochettino - 5/1

Oliver Glasner - 9/1

Luis Enrique - 14/1

Marco Silva - 16/1

Thomas Tuchel - 16/1

Vincent Kompany - 16/1

Ange Postecoglou - 18/1

Thomas Frank - 20/1

Roberto De Zerbi - 20/1
