Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have been the latest teammates to get into trouble for arguing over who will take a penalty.
It is a discussion that can get very heated between players and there are plenty of examples of it throughout history.
Mbappe clearly wanted to take the second penalty for PSG against Montpellier, despite missing the first one, but Neymar held firm after a discussion and scored it, before liking a social media post criticising the Frenchman.
Neymar vs Cavani
Neymar also clashed with Edinson Cavani back in 2017 when he first joined the Parisian club.
The Uruguayan held firm but then missed that penalty, which was a bad look.
Balotelli: The repeat offender
Mario Balotelli has found himself in this position more than once. When at Inter in 2009, he tried to take the ball away from Samuel Eto'o but Javier Zanetti intervened and the Cameroonian scored.
When playing for Liverpool against Besiktas in 2015, he took the ball away from Jordan Henderson and scored.
"That was disrespectful to Henderson," Steven Gerrard, in the stands, said about the situation.
Vidal vs Ballack
Arturo Vidal and Michael Ballack had an altercation many years ago when the pair were playing in midfield together for Bayer Leverkusen.
Vidal was in charge, according to his account, and refused to hand the ball to the German for a spot-kick.
"He asked me for the ball and I said no," he said.
"We were close friends and I could have given it to him, but I had to take it."
You take it, Ibra
In contrast, Lionel Messi once stepped aside to let Zlatan Ibrahimovic take a penalty for Barcelona as he sensed that the Swedish forward needed the goal more than he did.
Cristiano Ronaldo vs Xabi Alonso
At Real Madrid, the rules dictated that penalties were taken by Cristiano Ronaldo from the moment he joined the team.
In 2010 it was Xabi Alonso who asked the Portuguese for a truce in his privilege in a match against Villarreal.
The Portuguese, reluctant to share, passed the ball to the brains of the team to score his first goal as a Real Madrid player in a match that was already decided. Ronaldo's face after the match did not look happy.

If messi is as obsessed and selfish with goals like cr5 he would not have highest assist in football history, Messi would have had 1000goals right now if Messi has decided to score instead of assisting. As obsessed with goals as Cristiano is, Messi still has more golden shoes despite cristiano has played over 150 matches than Messi.

No wonder Zlatan respects Messi. I actually think Messi is the ONLY player Zlatan doesn't say nasty things abt. So much to learn from Messi's humility, he remains the only player to pass the penalty to his teammates on more than 3 occasions. Messi's secret to success isn't just talent and hard work, it's also HUMILITY. Am a Church goer (most of us are just that , for as long as we don't keep the Word), I understand what humility is to a human being. It's not easy to remain humble. Messi does it without thinking, he puts the happiness of his teammates ahead of his. And for me that's why he will never be matched in the history of football, bcos....well he is godly.
