Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is set to leave FC Copenhagen after a miserable four-month spell in which he played just seven times and scored no goals.
Bendtner joined the Danish giants for the second half of the Superliga season, but has been handed just two starts and will not extend his deal with the club.
The news of his departure was revealed in a statement on the club's website, in which the 31-year-old admitted he may now retire from the game.
'I'm proud that I got to play in the FCK jersey... which was one of my dreams as a football player,' he said.
'There is no doubt that I had a dream that it would turn into more playing time and maybe a longer deal. But I fully respect the decision made by Stale [Solbakken, the manager], and I do not regret in any way that I got this time in the FCK.
'Now I want to think about my future and think carefully about whether I should try a new adventure in the football world or stop and start some new adventures in life.'
The club's boss Solbakken was also full of praise for the striker, despite his lack of involvement.
'We have been very pleased with Nicklas and the contribution he has made to the squad, both in the changing room and not least on the training ground,' he said.
'He has... helped the squad and the young players in everyday life with his experience as a football player and his good mood.
'He probably had a feeling for a while about which way it went, but he has tackled it top professionally. He has been a good teammate throughout, supporting the boys and contributing to our good common results, even if he has been disappointed not to play anymore.
'We have had good and honest talks on an ongoing basis, and we also agreed that it could be difficult for Nicklas and his motivation to continue to have limited playing time in the future.'
