No Messi & Ronaldo as De Bruyne names his perfect player

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne has been playing Dr Frankenstein, and came up with his perfect footballer made up of the best attributes of six current stars.

The Belgian - who has returned to full fitness as he looks to play a part in City's push for the Quadruple this season - is set to feature against Tottenham in the Champions League on Tuesday, and included a Spurs star renowned for his vision in his mercurial mash-up.

In a video for BT Sport , De Bruyne also named two of his current Manchester City teammates, a rival from Chelsea , a Real Madrid stalwart and - quite pleasingly - himself in his selection.

Here's who he went for.

Leadership - Vincent Kompany

"To choose leadership, and it's somebody I know. I have to say Vincent Kompany.

"I see what he does on and off the pitch for club and country.

"I think he's probably one of the best leaders in the world for a team."

Vision - Christian Eriksen

"I like a player like Eriksen. He's very underrated in people's minds.

"He creates a lot of chances for his teammates, and I know him already from his time in Ajax."

Mentality - Sergio Ramos

"He just does everything to get the team fired up. Even taking a red card to win the game."

Football brain - Kevin De Bruyne

"I would say my football brain, to be fair.

"I'm pretty happy with it!"

Acceleration - Leroy Sane

"I would take Leroy, just because of his elegance, you know?

"He could be like a hundred metre runner and it wouldn't cost him any effort."

Work rate - N'Golo Kante

"I would say N'Golo Kante.

"The things that he does, he's incredible at them.

"He's a defensive hoover, which is really important also."
