Chelsea will play away against Cardiff City in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup tonight local time.

According to statistics, this is Chelsea's second time facing a League One team in the League Cup this season, having previously defeated Lincoln City 2-1 away in September.

This is also Chelsea's 25th appearance in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup. In the previous 24 times, they advanced to the semi-finals 16 times, including the last 5. Sunderland was the last team to eliminate Chelsea at this stage, which was in the 2013-14 season.

Chelsea has advanced in all 18 League Cup matches against lower-league teams in the past, which is tied for the second-longest winning streak in the history of the EFL Cup for a top-flight team.

Chelsea's last elimination by a lower-league team was in the fourth round in November 2008, when they lost 4-5 on penalties to Burnley after the two sides had drawn 1-1 in regular time.
