North London derby hero Bukayo Saka believes Arsenal CAN win trophies this season

Bukayo Saka has claimed that Arsenal have a chance of winning trophies this season if they keep replicating Sunday's impressive performance in the north London derby.

Goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Saka blew Tottenham away in the opening 34 minutes, with Son Heung-min's 79th-minute strike proving to be a consolation for Nuno Espirito Santo's men.

The victory means the Gunners move above their rivals and into the top half of the Premier League after a torrid start to the campaign and Saka told reporters after the match that silverware could be added to the cabinet come May.

'We can achieve anything, no matter what age,' the 19-year-old said. 'With age comes experience, but we have a lot of experience in this squad anyway, which helps us.

'If we play like that all the time, we have a strong chance of doing well this season and winning some trophies. This is one game, we have to do it again the next week and the next week.

'I can't really describe how good it feels [to get the win]. Starting with the atmosphere in the stadium — it was crazy!

'The fans gave us so much energy and, for us to repay them and win like this at the stadium, it just means everything for us.

'It's been almost two years since we played a north London derby with the fans. And you could tell it's been nearly two years by the way they received us and cheered us. It was a special game.'

After a chastening opening-day league defeat to top-flight new boys Brentford, Mikel Arteta's side were dominated at the Emirates by Chelsea before being ripped to shreds by champions Manchester City at the Etihad as the Spaniard's job came under increasing scrutiny.

Since then though, they have taken maximum points against Norwich, Burnley and Spurs and have the opportunity to move up to eighth if they defeat high-flying Brighton on the South Coast at the weekend before players set off for the international break.

Arsenal's last trophy came when they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the 2020 FA Cup final. The last time they achieved a league and cup double was all the way back in 2002 as they finished seven points above Liverpool and again beat the Blues in the world's oldest cup competition, this time courtesy of goals from Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungberg.
