Norwich City have sacked boss Liam Manning after a 2-1 loss to Leicester inflicted his seventh defeat in eight Championship games.
Manning, who only joined the club in the summer after making the move from Bristol City, lost his job with Norwich second from bottom after eight defeats in an 11-game winless run in the league.
Only Sheffield Wednesday, who have been hit with a points deduction for entering administration, are below them in the Championship table with the Canaries four points from safety.
Norwich have lost all eight of their home matches this season and they are without a win since their league trip to Blackburn at the end of August.
"We have tried absolutely everything possible to work through this incredibly challenging period but, unfortunately, given the recent run of results and performances, we have been left with no choice other than to make a change at this stage," said Sporting director Ben Knapper.
Fans turned on the head coach after they were beaten at home by Hull City on November 1, with Manning apologising for disappearing down the tunnel after the final whistle.
Earlier this month, Norwich's US owner Mark Attanasio flew into East Anglia to offer his support and backing to Manning.
"There's no plan to sack Liam. We hired Liam due to his record as an English football coach," the American said last Wednesday.
"They are really hard workers, they have high integrity and Liam left a really good job [at Bristol City] to come here."
But the latest defeat forced Attanasio's hand, with Norwich now four points adrift of safety.
