United boss Rubén Sellés has strengthened his attacking options with the addition of an exciting and much-coveted talent.  Louie Barry is the latest arrival at Bramall Lane, completing a season-long loan deal with the Blades from Premier League side Aston Villa.

A familiar face to Sellés, the winger is reunited with the Blades boss following a stint at Hull City during the second half of last season's Championship campaign.

Barry, who lists Barcelona on his CV as well as holding international honours at youth level, scored 16 goals on loan at League One Stockport County in the first half of last season, a spell which drew many admirers from further up the pyramid.

On his arrival in S2, Barry, 22, remarked: "The first time I had conversations about it, I just couldn't wait to come here. The season is three weeks away, and I know we have a couple of friendlies before, but I am just buzzing to get started.

"I've been at Villa, playing games, training and working hard just for whatever will come next. As I say, when a club like this comes calling, you can't turn it down and I can't wait to get into it.

"I love his (Rubén Sellés) style of play, it is exactly what I stand for as a player. I just want to get to the goal as quick as possible. I have got a really good relationship with the gaffer and the staff, so I can't wait to get into training now."

Born in Sutton Coldfield, Barry joined West Bromwich Albion at the age of six and by 2018 had progressed through to the U21 squad.

But in July 2019, having previously been close to signing for Paris St Germain, Barry penned a three-year deal with Spanish giants Barcelona, but unfortunately his time in Catalonia was severely disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic and despite impressing at U19 level, he left Camp Nou without making a senior appearance.

Upon returning to England, boyhood club Aston Villa swooped for his services paying an initial fee of £880,000 for his services and in his only senior appearance at Villa Park, the attacker netted against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Loans at Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, Milton Keynes Dons and Salford City saw Barry further his development in the EFL, before rising to prominence during two temporary stints at Stockport County in League Two and then in League One, which saw him score 24 goals in 44 league appearances overall for the Hatters.
