Bukayo Saka received the 2026 Socrates Award at the Ballon d'Or ceremony on October 26 in recognition of his long-standing commitment to charitable and humanitarian causes.
Named after legendary Brazilian footballer Sócrates, the award was first presented in 2022, with Sadio Mané becoming its inaugural recipient. It recognizes footballers who have made outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes around the world.
Saka and his family have worked with several charitable organizations over the years, including a long-term partnership with Big Shoe, providing medical care and humanitarian assistance to children and families in need in London and across the world.
Their charitable initiatives have also provided emergency shelter to families displaced by devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Morocco. In addition, Saka's humanitarian efforts have helped more than 100 children in Nigeria and other parts of Africa undergo life-changing surgeries, giving them access to medical treatment they otherwise could not afford.
Saka also partnered with freelance services platform Fiverr to launch an initiative supporting ethnic minority entrepreneurs in the UK, helping them take their first steps toward starting their own businesses.
