OFFICIAL: Gundogan joins Barcelona on a free transfer from Man City

OFFICIAL:  Ilkay Gündogan has signed as new Barcelona player until June 2025 with an option for further season.

He will join on a two year deal (with the option of a 12 month extension) after his contract at Man City  ended following 12 major trophies in his seven years at the club.

The 32-year-old, who scored 60 goals in 304 games for the Cityzens and played a key role in their treble success last season, has a release clause of £342 million.

Xavi has his first big signing for next season. Soon the club will inform about the details of Gündogan's official presentation as a new first-team player.

The German midfielder, who turns 33 on Oct. 24, arrives in Barcelona with a long career behind him and as a world-class talent. Like any child who loves the ball, he got his first kick in his native Gelsenkirchen, the land of talented midfielders such as himself and Mesut Özil.

The arrival of Gündogan means the signing of a player with a proven track record at the highest level of world football, a key player in the achievement of Manchester City's treble and fundamental in his last years at the Premier League club. Barça will get, at zero cost, one of the best midfielders in the world.

He spent seven seasons at City, a club he joined in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund. He was the first signing of the 'Guardiola era'. He is one of the best players of the last years of success of the team.
