Jordan Henderson has today signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool Football Club.
The captain has committed his future to the Reds by penning the deal at Melwood, ensuring his seven-year stay with the club will be prolonged into the seasons to come.
Moments after putting pen to paper, Henderson told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time. I’m absolutely delighted.
“It doesn’t seem like too long ago when I signed my first one – it feels like yesterday, really – but a lot has happened since then.
“I feel it’s been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much.
“There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be.
“I’m so privileged to have been a part of this club for so long, and hopefully even longer now.”
Henderson originally arrived at Anfield from Sunderland in the summer of 2011 and has gone on to make 283 appearances to date, scoring 24 goals.
The midfielder was initially installed as Liverpool vice-captain in September 2014, before assuming the armband on a full-time basis the following summer after the departure of Steven Gerrard.
Henderson, who turned 28 in June, is a regular for England and played a starring role as the Three Lions reached the World Cup semi-finals this summer. He has amassed 44 caps for his country so far.

This makes me happy, people slate him coz they want flicks & tricks but it's his work rate that earns him his position. Granted, he doesn't get enough goals but he knows his role & he gives his all on the pitch, he'll get stuck in, he can pick a pass, he'll make a challenge & best of all, he has a voice. He'll shout at our players & is aware of those around him. Too many clueless fans on here, he started last weekend to get him back in his role, he got slated for having an average game. Everyone in the team apart from Joe Gomez had an average game. Our weak link in midfield was Gini, Leicester players skipped past him like he wasn't there, perhaps klopp should have spotted that sooner. As others have said, there is a reason why hendo gets the senior roles within a squad.

Good news for Liverpudlian and hopefully he doesn't jump this titanic ship when it hits the iceberg
