Lyon have confirmed that Memphis Depay suffers ACL rupture, and he will be out for more than 6 months.

Depay was substituted at half-time during Sunday's Ligue 1 defeat at home to Rennes, having initially been hurt in a tussle with Hamari Traore.

Lyon havd officially announced that Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde have both suffer anterior cruciate ligament injury in that match.

They also say that the date for the operation will be decided in the coming days but the club assume they will be out for more than 6 months.

"We expect Memphis' injury to be quite serious. We expect it to keep him out for the rest of the season. He's our captain and I'm sad for him.", says Lyon sporting director Juninho.

Lyon coach Rudi Garcia said: “It's a very negative evening. We have to show more. We were lucky to still be level at the break. We will learn from this.

"I'm not happy with the results or the performances. The evening is made worse by the fact that we lost Reine-Adelaide and Depay to injury."

Depay now faces a battle to return in time to feature for Netherlands at Euro 2020.
