Greatest player England has produced. I met him several times when I lived in Old Trafford 40 years ago. I also met him at various football functions. Nobody, and I mean nobody, scored more spectacular goals than Sir Bobby. I was behind the goal at Anfield in October 1971,when he sent a guided missile past Ray Clemence the Liverpool keeper. His goals against Spurs were the best. The one against Spurs in January 65 has to be seen to be believed. It was more like an excocet rocket. A few years later in the Charity Shield he produced another unbelievable goal. An almighty volley from 30 yards into the top corner ! My friend said it was a doomsday goal from Armageddon ! The famous English commentator, the late great Kenneth Wolstenholme said that goal was good enough to win the league title, the F.A Cup, the European Cup, Royal Ascot, the Grand National and the Oxford-Cambridge University Boat Race all in one !! I remember him scoring against Norwich and the ball hit the bar, bounced down, hit the bar again, bounced down and then finally crossed the line ! Magnificent memories ! RIP Sir Bobby. A true legend.
