Alex Iwobi has signed for Everton from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a five-year deal until the end of June 2024.
The 23-year-old forward is the Blues’ seventh and final signing of the summer transfer window following the additions of goalkeeper Jonas Lössl, right-back Djibril Sidibe, midfielders Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and striker Moise Kean.
Nigeria international Iwobi, who has 36 caps and helped his country to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals this summer, came through Arsenal’s academy before making his first-team debut for the Londoners in October 2015 at the age of 19.
Everton manager Marco Silva said: “Alex was one of our main targets for this window and I believe he is a fantastic signing for Everton. He is a direct and skilful winger and attacking midfielder who always works very hard for his team.
“He is still young but already with a lot of top-level experience – 100 Premier League matches, more in Europe and many international games.
“It was important for me to have one more quality option for our attacking positions to add to what we have with Richarlison, Bernard and Theo Walcott.
“Alex fits exactly the profile of player I want in my model. He is hungry to join Everton and take the next step in his career, to help us compete with the strongest teams in the league and reach his potential at our club.”
Iwobi, the nephew of Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha, was born in Lagos, Nigeria before moving to England when he was four. Iwobi played 149 games for Arsenal, scoring 15 times and contributing to 42 goals.

Arsenal started with a £40M transfer budget and ended with a £40M transfer budget...

it's sad iwobi had to leave, but business is business. Asking Iwobi to remain would be to kill his career. Who would he bench? The additions Arsenal have made is exciting and, I look forward to a good season. Iwobi gets to play regularly at Everton and will command a shirt in the Nigeria national team and, one day might be in a top team in Spain. I think it's a good career decision.

Alex Iwobi has lots of talent but he’s never taken it to the next level his decision-making and final ball has always been okay His last 3 seasons in PL 16/17- 26 games 3 goals 17/18- 26 games 3 goals 18/19- 35 games 3 goals £40million is a massive win👏

when I thought Arsenal had the best summer transfer window, boom they sold one of our best leaving behind players for sale like elneny, mkhi, ozil not forgetting the lost man mustafi. iwobi would have been a decent back up to Pepe

Everytime a home grown player leaves Arsenal it pains my heart. Maybe we're not learning from our mistakes. Emery no different from Wenger. why keep Ozil with such huge wage and let go of your investment. Nevermine Alex, but will not wish you good luck because we ourselves need it for champions league qualification

Nice cool business there for Arsenal. Iwobi goes to the level he belongs.. trust me he can not make first 11 at any of top six, expect Arsenal,Just cos Arsenal always gives enough room for youth players to play.

You sell a versatile player then keep M. Elneny whom is hardly ever used but then again Iwobi is worth more so Arsenal probably needs the money

sad news Mehn. I wish you all the best, I would rather sell Ozil and Miki, but nice window for Arsenal... he's 1 of our own, he's 1 of our own, Alex Iwobi is 1 of our own...

we love you iwobi but u have to take this step to help your carreer and to also add value to urself as a player bcoz if anything goes wrong in a game it's always iwobi dat takes d blame even though he has no fault in it so shine on bro and hopefully from dere u can secure a move to even a better club Dan arsenal. it is often said dat a priest isn't appreciated in his hometown and URS isn't an exception d fact dat u were developed by arsenal makes Dem not to value u don't worry now dey will now appreciate d little things dat u bring to d club gud luck bro

his on and off game play can't help the team... Arsenal isn't a small team so we are tired of managing.....Good luck IWOBI,missing you already and all the best!

My fellow Arsenal supporters let's not forget that football is business moreover these players such as Eleny, Mustafi, mkyterian, that are mentioned can't attract such amount of money that was paid for Iwobi's services by Everton. Also Iwobi need where he can play regularly not as a bench warmer for the interest of his future and Nigeria national team. I like the move and also this weekly wages must be so attractive , that's what he put into consideration before he made up his mind. let's not also forget that he is still on contract .so the power to leave or not to leave lies in his hand. I also believe that his uncle JJ Okocha played a vital roll in his move to Everton. Good luck brother. I wish u all the best in your new challenges. Arsenal fans all over the world are solidly behind your.
