Former Brazilian international Paulinho announced his retirement on his personal social media, officially ending his playing career.

The 36-year-old Paulinho has played for clubs such as Corinthians, Tottenham Hotspur, Guangzhou Evergrande, and Barcelona throughout his career. During his 5-year spell at Guangzhou Evergrande, he made 176 appearances, scored 75 goals, and provided 29 assists, winning 1 AFC Champions League, 4 Chinese Super League titles, 1 Chinese Football Association Cup, and 2 Chinese Football Association Super Cups. With the Brazil national team, Paulinho participated in two World Cups, in 2014 and 2018, and was part of the squad that won the 2013 Confederations Cup.
