Yaya Toure has left Olympiacos just three months after returning to the club, the Greek club have confirmed.
The 35-year-old signed for the Superleague club in September, having left Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer.
However he has played just five times, and parted ways with the club on Tuesday after attending training to say goodbye to his team mates.
In a statement, the Greek club wrote: 'Olympiacos FC and Yaya Toure would like to announce to the fans that they have mutually agreed to end their cooperation.
'Yaya is and remains an important member of the Olympiacos family, who has marked a central part of the history of the club. Olympiacos would like to thank him for everything he has offered to the Club.
'Yaya will remain deeply devoted to the club and wishes to Olympiacos lots of success.
'Yaya is leaving as a friend and the doors at Olympiacos will always be open for him. Our paths will surely cross again.'
According to Greek radio station Sport24, Toure leaves after reportedly falling short of the expectations of manager Pedro Martins.
The central midfielder has enjoyed a glittering career in Europe, winning the Champions League with Barcelona and three Premier League titles at Manchester City.
He has also won the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast, was named African Footballer of the Year four times, and featured at three World Cups.
Toure previously played for Olympiacos in the 2005-06 season following spells in Belgium and Ukraine, before moving to Monaco.
He then joined Barcelona in 2007, before moving on to Manchester City in 2010, where he became a fan favourite during a highly-successful eight year spell.
He became renowned for his blistering runs from midfield and eye for goal as City won three Premier Leagues, one FA Cup and three League Cups during that period.

Looks like he should retire, does he need the money that much?

It's not always about the money. Maybe he loves the game so much he wants to keep playing for as long as possible.

I'm sure Maureen will personally pick him up from the airport with a 400k a week contract. 35 is prime age for a Utd signing.
I think his real age is more like 42

Well, he is 35yrs and not like he was one of those players who maintained an extremely fit body. He has done well and maybe needs to retire now so he doesn't soil his name

He was a brilliant player at his prime. Unfortunately, he could not accept the inevitable decline that every athlete must ultimately face.

He has become unmotivated and lazy. His attitude at City was the same towards the end of his career. He was very passionate about his treatment regarding his birthday though

He needs to retire. He barely broke into a trot during his last two years at City. That said, he was a brilliant player and City fans will always hold him in high regard (as long as his agent behaves).

I hope he will not continue to blame Pep for that. Guardiola really helped him in his career at Barca but he paid him back with insults and 'racist' tag.
