OTD in 1997, Asprilla scored 27-min hat-trick as Newcastle beat Barca 3-2 in UCL

On this day in 1997, Tino Asprilla scored a hat-trick to help Newcastle United to a famous win over Barcelona.

Barca had Luis Enrique, Luis Figo and Rivaldo in their line-up, but Newcastle had Faustino Asprilla.

The hugely popular Colombian put them all to the sword with a memorable Champions League hat-trick, which was even more impressive considering he had been enjoying himself in South America shortly before the game after playing for his country.
