Andre Onana will to travel to England on Tuesday to complete his £43million move to Manchester United, although no official announcement is set to be made by the club until later this week.

The Red Devils and Onana have agreed to a five-year contract with the option of an additional year, and the transfer fee could rise to £47m depending on the goalkeeper's performance and success at Old Trafford.

United, who have yet to confirm when the Inter star's medical will take place, are keen for Onana to join up with the pre-season squad as soon as possible, with Erik ten Hag's side set to jet off to the USA in the next few days.

The Premier League outfit first take on Lyon in their second pre-season friendly in Edinburgh on Wednesday before flying across the pond to face Arsenal in New Jersey.

Mail Sport understands that Manchester United are delighted to add another top-quality player into the squad early in pre-season.

Onana's arrival marks a significant change between the sticks at Old Trafford, after former No 1 David de Gea left the club last month as a free agent.

United, who chose not to renew the Spaniard's £375,000 per week deal, were eager to find a goalkeeper with excellent footwork and passing ability, with Ten Hag favouring a progressive philosophy from defence.

The Red Devils were locked in talks with Inter Milan and Onana's representatives for months, and the Cameroonian even changed agents in the hope of pushing through a move to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Once confirmed, Onana will mark Manchester United's second signing of the summer window following their £60m capture of Chelsea outcast Mason Mount.

The 27-year-old, who was a Barcelona academy graduate before joining Ajax, arrived at the San Siro on a free transfer last summer after enduring a nine-month for doping.

According to Ajax, he tested positive for the banned substance Furosemide.

Last season, Onana played 41 games in all competitions for the Italian giants and helped them win the Italian Cup, keeping 19 clean sheets in all competitions.

He also featured in Inter's 1-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Champions League final last month.
