On paper, Tottenham's Champions League future this season is simple and in their own hands - win, and they reach the last 16. They could even go through with a draw or a defeat, as long as their result betters Inter Milan's outcome against PSV.
The reality, however, is set to be much trickier, as they must get that result away to Barcelona at the Nou Camp, a stadium which has never been a happy hunting ground for English clubs.
In 40 previous clashes between English sides and Barcelona at the Nou Camp, the visitors have won just twice - and they were the same club.
Liverpool are the only English club to have tasted victory away to Barcelona - the first was in 1976, when a John Toshack goal proved enough for a 1-0 first leg win in their UEFA Cup semi-final.
The Reds earned a 1-1 draw at Anfield in the return fixture, and went on to lift the trophy after seeing off Club Bruges in the two-legged final.
It took 31 years for this feat to be repeated, until the Merseysiders once again came away from Catalonia with a famous victory.
In their 2007 last 16 clash, Liverpool came from behind to beat Barca 2-1, thanks to goals from Craig Bellamy and John Arne Riise after Deco had put the La Liga side ahead.
The game is primarily remembered for Bellamy's golf swing celebration after netting his 43rd-minute equaliser, in reference to an altercation he'd had with Riise on a recent night out that had made its way into the newspapers.
Liverpool progressed on away goals after Barca could only win 1-0 at Anfield in the second leg, and reached the 2007 final, where they lost to AC Milan.
Since then, it has been a run of 10 games without a win for English sides at the Nou Camp; three draws and some chastening defeats - 4-1 for Arsenal in 2010, 4-0 against Manchester City in 2016, and a 3-0 loss for Chelsea last season.
Chelsea however have also enjoyed the most recent notable success for a Premier League club in Barcelona, with a 2-2 draw in the 2012 semi-final as they went on to win the Champions League for the first time.
After winning 1-0 in the first leg, the Blues seemed destined for elimination after Barca went 2-0 up at home and captain John Terry was sent off.
However Ramires grabbed a crucial away goal before half time, and, after withstanding constant Barca pressure, Fernando Torres scored a 92nd-minute breakaway goal to send Gary Neville into orgasm and Chelsea to the final.
