Just like the players who were available on a Bosman in 2021, the list of best free agents for the summer of 2022 is stacked with world class talent – with names such as Kylian Mbappe, Paulo Dybala, Paul Pogba, Ousmane Dembele and Lorenzo Insigne among the stars with expiring contracts.

Perhaps never before has there been so many big names who could leave on a free transfer, so super-clubs such as Barcelona, PSG and Man Utd need to get negotiating to avoid their superstars leaving for nothing.

The names that immediately stand out are superstars Mbappe and Pogba.

The former was keen on a move to Real Madrid in the summer and on deadline day Los Blancos offered a humungous €200m for his services - even though he can be signed for free in less than 12 months.

After PSG refused to even negotiate, Mbappe will stay for at least another year before probably signing for Madrid.

As for Pogba, he has cut an increasingly more content figure at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and with Man Utd putting together a superb squad following the additions of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, he may opt to stick around.
