Owen backs Man Utd to bounce back from Man City defeat with a win over Norwich

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to bounce back from defeat against Manchester City with a win over Norwich.

United host the Premier League's bottom club at Old Trafford on Saturday, following their midweek disappointment.

Manchester United suffered a home 3-1 defeat on their nearest rivals in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

However, in the Premier League, United can close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea as they bid to earn a Champions League place.

Statistically, they couldn't ask for a nicer fixture to do so, as they take on the division's lowest-placed side at home.

Whilst United have struggled against so-called 'weaker' opposition this season, they did record a 3-1 victory over the Canaries at Carrow Road in the reverse fixture back in October.

Similarly, Norwich are without a win in eight Premier League outings, with their last victory coming at Goodison Park in November.

With that in mind, Owen has predicted his former club to end a run of three matches without a win by beating Daniel Farke's men on Saturday.

"Norwich have dropped 14 points from winning positions so far this term having conceded a late equaliser to Crystal Palace in their last home league game," Owen wrote in his latest BetVictor blog.

"United were no match for neighbours City at Old Trafford in the League Cup semi-final 1st leg this week, but they did restore some pride in the second half, and I would be surprised if they didn't get back to winning ways against a Canaries side who currently prop up the division.
