Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was mobbed by Neymar after scoring a late winner for Paris Saint-Germain against Atalanta in their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday night.

The Cameroon international, who was relegated with Stoke City before his move to PSG, scored in added time as his side came from a goal down to win 2-1 with a few minutes remaining.

In Choupo-Moting's post-match interview the striker was jumped on by his team-mate Neymar as they celebrated their win.

'When I was warming up I thought "we can't lose a game like that". The rest is a little bit of history for Paris,' Choupo-Moting told beIN SPORTS.

'To be honest we have had a good feeling on and off the pitch. We have already won four titles but this one is the most important.

'We know we have the individual quality, we want to show it as a team and we did that against a very good team today.'

Atalanta, in their first Champions League campaign, went ahead with a curling effort from Mario Pasalic in the 27th minute and held out until the 90th minute when Brazilian defender Marquinhos equalised for the French champions.

With Atalanta wilting, Choupo-Moting turned the ball home in the third minute of added time to end Qatari-backed PSG’s embarrassing run of recent quarter-final and round of 16 exits and send them into the last four for the first time since 1995.

The Serie A side had a chance to equalise but Luis Muriel, after breaking clear, ran the ball out of play and his team mates slumped to the ground in despair as the final whistle went.

Atalanta, a rare case of a team from outside the elite group of European clubs making the last eight of the competition, are based in Bergamo which was at the epicentre of the new coronavirus pandemic in Italy earlier this year.
