Paris Saint-Germain 'will reignite their interest in Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante this summer'.

The French league leaders have been keen on signing the 27-year-old World Cup winner for some time and it is believed they will test Chelsea's resolve.

According to French media outlet Le10 Sport, relations between Kante and manager Maurizio Sarri have soured and the player will now consider a return to his homeland.

Kante has been forced to play out of position after Sarri bought Jorginho last summer but PSG would return him to his natural defensive midfield duties.

Nonetheless, Kante has shown a willingness to adapt to the new responsibility and signed a new five-year, £300,000-a-week contract with Chelsea in November.

Indeed, playing on the right side of midfield has awakened a new attacking edge in Kante's game and he has scored three Premier League and one Carabao Cup goal this season.

His league goal return is as many as he had managed in his first three seasons in English football combined.

But Sarri's insistence in playing Jorginho in front of the defence to power his 'Sarri-ball' philsophy has attracted criticism.

PSG, who play Manchester United in the last-16 of the Champions League next week, have endured problems in midfield all season.

Though they signed Leandro Paredes from Zenit St Petersburg during the January transfer window, they missed out on other targets such as Everton's Idrissa Gueye.

And in last Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Lyon, manager Thomas Tuchel played defenders Marquinhos and Dani Alves in a midfield five, underlining their present shortage.
