PSV Eindhoven boss Peter Bosz has accused his own players of 'disrespecting' Liverpool during their Champions League clash on Wednesday.
Eindhoven beat Liverpool 3-2 at home, coming from behind twice to pick up an important win over a rotated Reds side. Liverpool had already booked their place in their last 16 by winning their previous seven games, while victory for Eindhoven means they will be one of eight seeded sides in the knockout phase play-offs.
Liverpool ended up finishing the game with ten men after Amara Nallo was sent off on his debut and Eindhoven saw out the game by keeping possession with some flashy passes. However, Bosz was not impressed with his side's antics.
"I thought it was terrible," he said in his post-match press conference. "It really annoys me. It's misplaced, they shouldn't do that. It was a kind of rondo they played there, with a back heel and a no-look pass.
"If I had been in that position, I would have sawed them off below the knees. You just shouldn't do that. I don't think it's respectful to the opponent. I haven't spoken to them about it yet, but I will.
"I do like entertaining the crowd, but in a different way. I think we would have entertained the crowd before without all that craziness." Although Liverpool rested the majority of their top stars, Bosz was delighted with his side's comeback win.
"I watched it with great pleasure," he added. "I understand very well that it wasn't the best Liverpool team, but there was still a lot of quality on the pitch. We tried to play our best football against that.
"Hopefully we succeeded. Not everything went well, I also saw enough things that need to be improved. But they were beautiful goals, those by Johan [Bakayoko], but also those by Ismael [Saibari], and we achieved a good victory."
It was also the first time Eindhoven have ever beaten Liverpool in a competitive fixture, with the Reds having picked up five wins and one draw in their last six meetings. Eindhoven will now face either Feyenoord or Juventus in the play-offs.
Whoever wins that clash will take on either Arsenal or Inter Milan in the last-16. Liverpool, meanwhile, will meet either Monaco, Brest, Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica in the round of 16.
