PSV star Zahavi replaces Utd duo Pogba and Diallo's Palestine flag for Israel's

PSV's Israel international Eran Zahavi has taken aim at Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Amad Diallo for carrying the Palestinian flag.

The two Untied stars showed their support for Palestine by brandishing the flag as the players and coaching staff did a post-match lap around the pitch at Old Trafford following the 1-1 draw with Fulham in their last home match of the season.

Pogba posted the image of himself holding up the flag on Instagram after Tuesday's match and wrote: 'Let's keep our world safe and free from violence. Pray for Palestine.'

There has been renewed tensions and violence between Israel and Palestine, with the escalating conflict over the last couple of weeks the worst seen between them since 2014.

So far the violence has claimed at least 227 lives - 215 Palestinians including almost 100 women and children, and 12 people in Israel, including two children.

Zahavi, 33, who plays in Holland for PSV and has represented his country 62 times throughout his career, took to Instagram to edit Pogba's post, replacing the Palestinian flag with Israel's.

'Thanks guys. We appreciate your support all over the world,' the PSV striker wrote next to the post.

Zahavi done the same thing on the weekend after Leicester stars Wesley Fofana and Hamza Choudhury carried the Palestine flag around Wembley as they celebrated winning the FA Cup.

He again shared the image but with the Israeli flag imposed over Palestine's and wrote: 'Thanks for your support.'

Reports earlier this week claimed that the Football Association would not be punishing any players for displaying the flags of either Israel or Palestine.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also defended Pogba and Diallo's actions, insisting their views need to be respected.

'We have players from different backgrounds, different cultures, different countries,' he told reporters after the match.

'I think we need to respect their views if they differ from someone else's. If my players think about other things than football, that's a positive thing.

'I think we've seen that with some of the players before, that they do care about... say Marcus Rashford, for example, the differences he's made. We respect their right to have a different view.'

A number of sports stars have posted messages of support with Palestine with Arsenal's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny tweeting on Monday: 'My heart and my soul and my support for you Palestine,' followed by a picture of the Palestine flag and a peace emoji.

Elneny's post resulted in a backlash from Arsenal's Jewish supporters because his tweet also included an image with the text 'Palestine Lives Matter,' which shows an outline of Israel with pro-Palestine pictures within.

According to the Jewish Chronicle, the Gunners' sponsor and coffee group Lavazza have since contacted the club to register their concern about them being linked with Elneny's message, amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

The coffee company said the post did not align with their own values, while Arsenal defended Elneny by stating he had the right to defend his own platforms.
