Paddy Power has left punters stunned after paying out on Liverpool to win the Premier League, in light of Arsenal's disastrous defeat to West Ham.

Mikel Arteta's side went into today's contest at the Emirates looking to capitalise on Liverpool's slip-up against Aston Villa, after the Reds were held to a draw in midweek.

But with the chance to close the gap on the league leaders to five, Arsenal were toothless against the Hammers, who came out comfortable winners in a shock triumph for Graham Potter.

Ending a four-game winless run, Jarred Bowen's strike on the cusp of half-time proved the difference for West Ham - with Arsenal's woes compounded by the second-half sending off of Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The result acts as a hammer blow to Arsenal's title hopes as Arteta chases down his first piece of major silverware as Gunners boss.

And for betting site Paddy Power, today's defeat was enough to convince them that it's all over in the Premier League title race.

Paddy Power has decided to pay out on Liverpool to win the Premier League this season, no more than three months out from the final day.

Posting their verdict on X, they wrote: 'We've seen enough. With Arsenal losing to West Ham, the title race is as good as over.

'So we're paying out on Liverpool to win the 2024/2025 Premier League.'

Ravaged by a lack of attacking options, Arteta opted to field Mikel Merino up front following his substitute heroics against Leicester last week.

However, up against a defender of far higher quality than that of the Foxes, Merino looked like a fish out of water leading the line, with Arsenal unable to produce much going forward throughout the contest.

Facing a deficit at half-time - the first time they've trailed in a home Premier League game this season - they showed little improvement after the restart, trundling to a defeat that will buoy Liverpool going into their mammoth clash against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
