Cole Palmer has shown his consistent support for former Manchester City team-mates, as he congratulated Morgan Rogers on his Champions League debut.
Rogers was part of Aston Villa's starting XI that defeated Young Boys 3-0 on Tuesday night, with the ex-City star playing his part in Unai Emery's midfield. Palmer, who played alongside Rogers in City's youth teams before their respective moves in 2023, shared his support for the young midfielder on social media with just two words.
Writing on Instagram, Rogers said: "I used to pray for times like this. My Champions League debut." Palmer commented: "My boy."
The 22-year-old's public support for a league rival and old team-mate shows how fond he still is of the people who surrounded him at City - and how he continues to share positivity for these team-mates even after departing the club.
Rogers wasn't the only ex-City staff member who received plaudits from Palmer recently, after he shared a funny, X-rated nickname for one of the club's kitmen.
City kitman Brandon Ashton announced on social media that he would be departing the club after 15 years of service under numerous managers. Ashton wrote on Instagram: "After 15 years at Manchester City I have decided to leave my role at the club to explore other career paths. I have had some great experiences, met some amazing people who I know will be friends for life. For me and my family I feel it is the right time to start a new chapter, and see what new challenges I can be set.
"I will always hold Manchester City close to my heart as this club has brought me from a boy to a man. The memories I have over my time at City will forever be cherished. I want to thank all the players, management and back room staff I have worked with and also the fans I have had the pleasure to converse with over the years. I wish the lads nothing but the best this season and in the future. Brandon."
Many past and present City players commented their good luck messages to Ashton on the post - including quite a cheeky nickname from Palmer. The Chelsea star wrote: "B****** chops."
Palmer departed the Etihad for Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023, in a deal worth €47 million (£39.5m). Since his arrival, the youngster has tallied 45 goal contributions - 26 goals and 19 assists - in just 51 games. The midfielder has started the new season well under new boss Enzo Maresca, with one goal and four assists in four Premier League games.
A trip to London Stadium on Saturday to play West Ham United is next on the cards for the Blues, before they return to Stamford Bridge for their Carabao Cup third round tie against Barrow on September 24.
