Following Arsenal's 3-0 away defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in a Premier League match, Arsenal legend Paul Merson criticized new Gunners midfielder Guimaraes.
Speaking on Sky Sports' "Soccer Saturday," Paul Merson said: "He's miles off it, miles off it. I said at half-time he'd be substituted, but he stayed on for another 10 to 15 minutes."
"The game was too fast for him. The opposition kept pressing. I don't care how good you are—if they make you play with your head down, constantly pressing you and forcing you to run, then the game becomes much more even."
He then praised Brighton & Hove Albion's performance: "That's what Brighton & Hove Albion did. They didn't give anyone time on the ball, they didn't let you look up and pass, their performance was absolutely outstanding."
Guimaraes started for Arsenal in this match, playing 60 minutes. He partnered with Rice in a double pivot in midfield, but the result was disappointing.

They pressed us very high, so wouldn't you go to a 3 in the midfield, or just have Raya boot the ball up the field, then we can battle them in their half off the pitch.
