Barcelona were awarded a penalty against Rayo Vallecano after Jordi Amat brought down Nelson Semedo in the area, and former referee Andujar Oliver agreed with the decision.
Leo Messi dispatched the penalty to make it 2-1 for his side after going a goal down in the first half.
The incident provoked plenty of debate but Oliver agreed with the call.
"I believe that the referee made the right decision because Amat touches Semedo and brings him to the ground.
"The assistant is the one who communicated the infraction to the referee and, therefore, it is a penalty," Oliver said.
