Pep Guardiola will take charge of his 700th match as a head coach on Saturday when Manchester City host Fulham, and the Catalan has revealed when he might call time on his coaching career.
From Barcelona to Bayern Munich to City, Guardiola has become one of the top coaches in the world with a style of football that has earned plaudits around the world.
"Seven hundred games," Guardiola pondered during Friday's pre-match press conference. "I'm going to do 700 more and after that I'm going to retire.
"In life, when you start something you don't expect what will happen in the future.
"I never expected it [to reach 700]. It's good to have 700 games with few defeats in these games."
"For all the players and staff we had in Barcelona B team, first team, Bayern and here, we share it.
"It is an incredible number and we have made incredible things together. Hopefully we can do it in the future."

Guardiola already said almost 4 years ago that he intends to retire from coaching at around 60 years of age. Guardiola will be 50 next month and will turn 60 in January 2031. His clubs would play approximately 50-60 games per year (assuming they are playing in a European competition). Assumung he doesn't take any sabbaticals until the end of his coaching career, let's see if Pep can reach 700 more games as a coach by the age of 60. Let's say his teams average 59 games per season over the next 10 years. 59×10=590 so he will manage only 590 games before the end of his coaching career between 2021/22 and 2030/31. Add Manchester City's remaining games of this season and that number will rise above 620. So for him to reach 700 more games (1400 in total) as a manager by the age of 60, his teams will need to average at least 70 games played per season and that's impossible so if Pep wants to prove that he can reach 1400 games before he calls time on his coaching career, he will need to manage for 2 more seasons (until 2033, without taking a break) before reaching 1400 games as a manager. Good luck Pep!👍
