Peter Crouch has issued a glowing review of Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez and has claimed the Blues understudy is enduring a similar situation to what he had during his time at Liverpool.
The former Anfield striker was relegated to the bench on plenty of occasions during his time at Liverpool as he played second-fiddle to Spanish star Fernando Torres.
Speaking ahead of Man City's Etihad clash with his former side, Crouch revealed he 'loves' Argentina World Cup winner Alvarez who starts in the absence of the injured Erling Haaland.
'I love him as a player, it is frustrating I had it with Torres at Liverpool who seemed to score every time he touched the ball,' Crouch told BT Sport.
'You won't replace Haaland but you have to be ready for any occasion called upon or play alongside him.
'He gives you that bit more, his all-round game is more touches of the ball,' he added.
