Phil Jagielka has named who he would pick in England's starting XI for Euro 2024 this summer - but fans are not convinced by all his choices.
The former Sheffield United and Everton centre-back played 40 times for the Three Lions between 2008 and 2016, and was called up to the squad at Euro 2012.
He has picked the England player he thinks Gareth Southgate should take to Germany if everyone is fit, as they look to go one better than the second-placed finish they achieved in 2021.
But fans took issue with one position in particular - saying he has missed a key player up front to go alongside Bukayo Saka and captain Harry Kane, for the first game of the tournament.
Jagielka, who was part of the England squad that lost their opening game of the 2014 World Cup to Italy, admitted to talkSPORT that he's gone 'a bit negative' with his picks to ensure they win games.
Jagielka warned: 'In my personal experience, you don't lose your first game of the tournament, trust me, it's not a nice place to be.
'When you're in Brazil, and you've been beaten, and you're now chasing it for the rest [of the tournament].'
He initially picked Rashford, and then seems to waver on his opinion, allowing a window of opportunity for Phil Foden.
'For me, I've gone a bit negative. Either Rashford or Foden off the left.'
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) jumped in to protest his initial choice to have Rashford over Foden.
One said 'At least three players start ahead of Rashford' citing Foden, Jack Grealish or James Maddison.
Man United's Luke Shaw was selected at left-back, but one raised questions about whether he would return from a leg injury in time for the Euros, whilst also slating his club team-mate's form.
They wrote: 'Shaw probably injured, Rashford should be no where near the squad based on performances this season.'
In goal, Jagielka selected Jordan Pickford, adding: 'I don't think he's ever let England down'.
On playing together, the former Everton man added: 'Jordan's very animated, and I'm okay with it. You give as good as you get, you can kind of smile and laugh it off.
'If you bring a younger centre-half in, or one who's not used to playing in front of Jordan, getting shouted at might affect their game.'
He added that the centre-back partnership of Harry Maguire and John Stones is 'proven', whilst opting for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield, alongside Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, because 'He [Southgate] likes Trent.'
Kyle Walker at right-back is the final name in Jagielka's starting team.
England begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia on June 16.

Their is no how anyone should compare Foden and Radford. Is the person blind? Foden is more dangerous now than Rashford.

Believe it or not Rashy has fire power than the Fodens, he's more of a nightmare to defenders than all those less tricky players of yours
