Phil Jones added another remarkable incident to his impressive collection of on-field calamities after suffering a friction burn in Manchester United's 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading.
The defender received the injury to his forehead when challenging the Royals' striker Danny Loader, which sent him crashing head-first into the turf.
A red mark and long gash were visible on Jones' forehead in the aftermath of the match as the Man United squad prepared to fly to Dubai for a warm weather camp.
Despite Jones' scrape, the Old Trafford club produced an efficient display to see off their Championship opponents and reach the FA Cup fourth round.
A Juan Mata penalty - awarded after a long delay to check using VAR - and a Romelu Lukaku strike were enough to seal victory.
Jones was part of the Manchester United squad that won the 2016 FA Cup, although he conceded the penalty that Eden Hazard converted to win the 2018 final.
It is far from the first time Jones' on-pitch antics have gained him attention, as his career seems littered with a spate of bizarre incidents.
Against Arsenal in May 2015, Jones lost his footing when racing Olivier Giroud to a loose ball.
As he stumbled to the ground, the centre-back somehow used his head to knock the ball off Giroud's shins and out of play.
He was also left in an unflattering position by Derby's Jaden Bogle in a League Cup tie earlier this season.
Teammate Juan Mata even mocked Jones after he tripped over some astroturf on the side of the pitch in a match against West Ham.

Funny that it happened to him of all people, with all the faces he pulls when playing. Just search for 'Phil Jones Faces' if you want a laugh. Reminds me of my late friend. His head was shaved to the wood and funny shaped. We called him Heid (Scottish for head). It was like a magnet for stuff. He'd hit his head off stuff at work all the time, cutting it open and giving himself bumps and burn it red raw in the sun. Always gave us a laugh.
