Pique holds incredible record in numbers of straight final wins

Gerard Pique is an undisputed key player for Barcelona and his importance goes beyond his playing ability, but also for how he identifies with the people of Catalonia through his personality and desire to win.

The Catalan centre-back has grown accustomed to playing finals for the Azulgrana, racking up 18 appearances in his time there and only losing one of those against Real Madrid at Mestalla in 2011.

Victory this Saturday over Valencia at the Estadio Benito Villamarin will make it 12 straight final wins.

Pique started in that Champions League final win at Wembley Stadium over Manchester United on May 28, 2011. Pep Guardiola's side were incredible and won the club's fourth European Cup. Seven months on, he scored against Santos in the Club World Cup final, which ended in a convincing 4-0 win. His record in the Club World Cup continued in 2015 when Barcelona beat River Plate.

The defender was a prominent player in other seasons, too, particularly their Champions League win over Juventus on June 6, 2015.

Super Cups

The former Spain international has also raised the Supercopa de Espana and the European Super Cup. The continental crown came in August 2015 against Sevilla.

Last August he won the Spanish curtain raiser against the Andalusians in Tangier as well, getting involved in the scoring.

The Copa del Rey

Since 2011, Pique has played five domestic finals, winning in each of them. He's beaten Sevilla and Athletic Club twice, as well as seeing off Alaves.

On Saturday, he'll play another, and again it's the Copa del Rey. This time Los Che are the opposition and it's a new stadium as well, but his form this season doesn't suggest his final record will change.
