In what is expected to be the most exciting game in the Premier League this weekend, leaders Manchester City are hosting a struggling Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The Red Devils have won all their last three games away at their city rivals in all competitions, but they have failed to impress with their performances this season.
As we look ahead to the Manchester derby, there are several players who have donned the shirts of both Manchester giants and we are taking a look at them here.
Carlos Tevez
The Argentine striker played for two seasons at Manchester United from 2007 to 2009 before moving to the Sky Blues, where he stayed until 2013 before joining Serie A giants Juventus.
Peter Schmeichel
The Danish goalkeeper joined Manchester United in 1991 and stayed at Old Trafford until 1999. Following brief spells at Sporting CP and Aston Villa, he took many by surprise when he signed for Manchester City in 2002 at the age of 39. He played at the Sky Blues for just one season.
Andy Cole
He plied his trade at Old Trafford from 1995 to 2001, scoring a whopping 121 goals. Then, he signed for Blackburn Rovers and Fulham before moving to Manchester City in 2005. Cole spent one year at the Sky Blues, for whom he netted 10 times.
Owen Hargreaves
He signed for Manchester United in 2007 from Bayern Munich in exchange for 25 million euros. Four years later, he joined their city rivals, for whom he made just a few appearances.
Denis Law
His career began and ended at Manchester City, but it was at Old Trafford that he managed to shine. The Scotsman is still the third top scorer in Manchester United's history with 237 goals, behind Wayne Rooney (250) and Sir Bobby Charlton (249).
Terry Cooke
Cooke kicked off his career at the Red Devils' academy and got promoted to the seniors in 1994. He stayed at the club until 1999, but in between he was loaned out to several clubs, including Manchester City, who acquired his services for 600,000 pounds.
