Pochettino is happy for Chelsea's owners to enter the dressing room after games

Mauricio Pochettino has declared he has no issues with Chelsea's owners coming to the dressing room after matches.

It was reported on Monday that co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali has entered the changing room after every match this season.

Pochettino is not concerned this could undermine his authority, revealing he has encountered similar situations at previous clubs.

'I like when the owners come. In all my career, I think it's good. The way in which they approach the players is most important,' Pochettino said.

'They came and shared with us, they also did it with Liverpool and Luton and Nottingham Forest. They came with (co-sporting directors) Paul (Winstanley) and Laurence (Stewart), Behdad and sometimes Todd (Boehly) also and we talk about the game. I don't see in a bad way. For me it's good always if they share with us and come with the players.

'I think they are in a very good way and we are glad they shared time with us. When we win and it's good things, and to share when we are suffering like on Sunday.'

Chelsea have endured a difficult start to the season, losing three of their opening six matches.

This follows on from a dire 2022-23 campaign which saw them finish 12th, with Boehly reportedly going into the dressing room in the final weeks of the season to label the players' performances 'embarrassing'.

Pochettino is happy to have Boehly and Co. with the squad, but admits it's important they don't overstep the mark when addressing the players.

He added: 'It's not the job of the owner to come to the dressing room and to give a speech. They know very well how they have to behave.'

Chelsea sit in 14th place, and have scored just five goals in their six league games to date.

Pochettino insists he is happy with performances, though, and believes his side can turn around their form.

He has also denied that the job is tougher than he thought, acknowledging he expected tough times in getting Chelsea back on track.

'We are playing well, it's only we are not clinical in front of the goal. That is what we need to fix and try to give more confidence to our offensive players,' he explained.

It's (the job) not worse than I thought. I think we always knew the new project is always difficult. This period is a worse scenario than we can think to anticipate the situation.

'It looks like all is against us because the performance of the team deserves more points. All teams go through different periods, and I think we have the capacity to turn this.'
