Harry Redknapp insists suggestions that Mauricio Pochettino could leave Tottenham is 'absolute rubbish'.

Spurs have started the season slowly as they lie 7th in the table - 13 points off  Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Redknapp thinks Pochettino still has a bright future at the north London club despite the difficult start.

'Absolute rubbish,' Redknapp told Sky Sports. 'I think (former England boss) Graham Taylor was the cleverest manager.

'He said 'your manager is never as good as you think he is - and he's never as bad as you think he is. It is somewhere in between'.

'We all get carried away. He (Pochettino) is an excellent manager, he has fantastic players, they have a beautiful stadium. They are just having a tricky spell.'

The former Spurs boss believes some players have underperformed but backs them to get back to their best.

'Dele Alli, I love him, what a footballer, but he has not been in the same form as he showed, maybe over a year ago,' Redknapp said.

'He comes back to form, he is an incredible player.
