Paul Pogba could be named as Manchester United's new club captain this summer.
The French midfielder wore the skipper's armband as United started the season with a 2-1 win over Leicester but he soon fell out with Jose Mourinho and in September the then-manager made it known he would never lead the side again.
But Mourinho has since departed and, with current club captain Antonio Valencia set to follow him out of the Old Trafford exit at the end of the season, Pogba is again in line for the leadership role, according to The Sun.
It is said that interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who may keep the manager's job beyond the end of the season if he continues to impress, sees Pogba as the man to replace Valencia on a long-term basis.
Right back Valencia has only featured in five Premier League matches this season and will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in late June.
Ashley Young has frequently skippered United in Valencia's absence, but Solskjaer acknowledged Pogba's potential for the position earlier this season. He said: 'You can see what winning the World Cup meant to him, so for me, yes, Pogba's captain material.'
Pogba has been in fine form since Solskjaer replaced Mourinho in the Old Trafford hot-seat in December. He has scored nine goals in 14 games under Solskjaer, having netted just five times in the first 20 appearances of the season prior to Mourinho's sacking.

Pogba is indeed a leader. But his leadership is only on the pitch. it's not a bad idea to make him captain, but he only deserves the vice captaincy. We have real captain in the team with or without the ball, with or without the arm band . Herrera. The guy is a beast , he's a fighter, he's a winner, he's a lion. He gives others instructions, he motivates the team and he doesn't cause chaos and crisis in bad times. He's a good example on and off the pitch. Lindelof is a good guy and a leader. He knows well how to assemble his defence. He's very displined and can really do very well for us. David degea. Degea is one of our most hardworking guys in the team. He's a leader by example very hardworking and very mature. He will give his team 110% and he communicates well with his boys. very good on and off the pitch. Given all those I think Herrera would carry the ship forward.

When I saw this news the first thing that came in was why Paul? He's not a bad player, he has leadership qualities but leadership qualities are shown in both the good and bad conditions. He's a leader in the good conditions but he's not dependable in the bad ones. He almost led the team away from the club because they hated the last coach, not only was the coach maurinho affected, the players and the club were too because of Paul. We need someone with the heart and passion for the club like Ander Hererra who despite the coach's attitude he still played and wanted to see the club win. If we'd give Ander the position he'd be the best idea
