Paul Pogba marked his 26th birthday in charitable fashion by launching an initiative to raise funds for Charity: Water - an organisation which provides drinking water to people in developing nations.
The Frenchman has teamed up with the charity and pledged to match every penny raised after setting a target of £26k on his birthday last Friday.
The World Cup winner earns more than £200k-a-week at Manchester United so he should be able to keep his promise to double the donation amount.
In a post to his 33.8 million Instagram followers, Pogba tugged at the heartstrings revealing the shocking stat that "about 663 million people suffer from lack of clean water and live without it."
The midfielder posted a heartfelt plea alongside a video featuring him and some smiling children.
He said: "What, it's my birthday already!? I'm 26, time flies doesn't it?
"Let's do something special to celebrate...
"As you may know, about 663 million people in many countries - especially Africa - suffer from lack of clean water and live without it.
"Many people walk 2-4 hours a day to swamps and rivers to gather DIRTY water for their families.
"I'm opening a birthday fundraiser to raise funds for an organisation called Charity: Water that provides drinking water to people in developing nations."
"The organisation was founded in 2006 and has helped fund 24,537 projects in 24 countries.
"Our goal is to raise minimum GBP 26.000,00 and I’ll double the total raised. Every penny counts!
"Together we can make a difference.
"To donate go to my Facebook page or click on the link in my Bio."
Pogba also used his 25th birthday to ask people to donate to Save the Children charity.
The Frenchman has scored 14 goals in 36 United appearances this season and is flourishing under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Well said bro 👏👏👏 pure act of kindness . And by doing so , you are practicing the third pillar in Islam (Zakat is the compulsory giving of a set proportion of one's wealth to charity. It is regarded as a type of worship and of self-purification. Zakat is the third Pillar of Islam) Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” Let's all help the poor to make our world beautiful , through the beautiful smiles of the beautiful and innocent poor human being . We all can contribute with something mes amis . Remember the beauty of this world will be reflected back to us bcoz our environment, the world in which we live and work, is a mirror of our attitudes . peace ✌✌✌
