Paul Pogba has revealed he almost had a fight with Ravel Morrison after one of their first training sessions together at Manchester United.

Pogba and Morrison were part of the same youth team at United and won the 2011 FA Youth Cup, but the pair didn't get on when they initially crossed paths.

Speaking to Manchester United's podcast, titled 'Pogcast' for the one-off episode with the midfielder, Pogba revealed how they clashed in training.

'So was I training and obviously everyone knows how good Rav is with the ball,' he said. 'He was dribbling [past] players. I took the ball from him and he got angry a bit and kicked me.

'I couldn't speak English so I looked at him and [thought] 'that's okay, I'll wait until you get the ball [laughs]. I smashed him'.

'He started talking to me in English and I responded in French. You know, okay we will see after in the changing room. Okay, no problem. I'm not scared of you.'

'After, he came to me and hugged, you know, and, since then, we're very close. It's a strange story and funny but that happens a lot in football and now we're very good friends.'

Despite playing alongside one another in a talented youth team, Pogba and Morrison have taken very different career paths since their time together in United's academy.

Pogba made the decision to leave United on a free transfer in 2012 and join Juventus, where he won Serie A three times and reached the Champions League final before returning to United in a £93.2million deal in 2016.

Since returning to United, Pogba has added the Europa League and League Cup to his trophy cabinet at club level as well as the 2018 World Cup with France.

Morrison, meanwhile, has failed to live up to his billing as one of the most talented English players of his generation after playing for 11 different clubs on a permanent and loan basis.

Like Pogba, he departed Old Trafford in 2012 and joined West Ham, but moved on to Lazio in 2017, who loaned him out to Mexican side Atlas and QPR during his five-year stay in Italy.

Morrison, now 27, joined little known Swedish outfit Ostersund in 2019 and then made a return to English football with Sheffield United last summer, though he has barely featured for the Blades and was loaned out to Middlesbrough in January.
