Portugal 0-0 Spain: No way through for Cristiano Ronaldo in entertaining stalemate

Portugal and Spain played out an enthralling goalless draw in their first encounter since that memorable match at the 2018 World Cup.

On that night in Sochi, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick but there was no way through for the Portugal captain on Wednesday night in Lisbon, though he came closest with a stunning left-footed drive which hit the bar in the second-half.

Joao Felix missed a close range sitter in the closing stages and Renato Sanches also rattled the woodwork in a game where Spain dominated the ball, but it was a pair of Premier League keepers in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Rui Patricio who will go home the happiest after bagging clean sheets.
