Shirts a huge business these days and the journey of the football shirt, particularly within the Premier League era, is a fascinating narrative of evolving design, technological advancement, and burgeoning commercialism
From vibrant, often audacious patterns of the early 90s, when manufacturers truly began to experiment with colour and graphic-heavy aesthetics, we've witnessed a gradual shift over time.
Kits have moved from simple garments to high-performance apparel, embracing breathable synthetic fabrics, ergonomic fits, and intricate detailing, with this development transforming jersies from mere team identifiers into sophisticated pieces of sportswear, reflecting both the club's heritage and contemporary fashion sensibilities.
The popularity of shirt collecting has exploded from a niche pursuit into a global phenomenon, too – and these days, it's part of the game that every club brings out three new shirts every year (or four, if you're special), with football shirts considered fashion for many.
Truly, we're living in a golden era in which some of the 2025/26 vintage may one day be considered among the greatest football shirts of all time one day – and no, that's not an exaggeration.
Arsenal
Arsenal 2025/26 home kit
The Arsenal 2025/26 home kit draws inspiration from the club's successful shirts of the 1970s, featuring a rounded collar reminiscent of that era.
The design prominently incorporates a tonal, all-over graphic of the 'A' logo from Arsenal's 'Victoria Concordia Crescit' badge on the red fabric, and additionally, the name 'Arsenal' is displayed in a classic font on the back of the neck: lovely touch, there.
This new kit marks a return to a straightforward red and white colour scheme, simplifying the design after recent seasons that included blue and gold accents: and it's a back-to-basics approach that Arteta might have to look for on the pitch, too.
Arsenal away kit for 2025/26
Arsenal have unveiled their 2025/26 away kit which has seen Adidas revive a '90s classic. Featuring two shades of blue and the iconic lightning bolt pattern from the 1995/96 season, worn by the likes of Tony Adams, Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp.
The lightning bolt is a recurring motif, appearing in the crest of the Royal Arsenal Gatehouse, where the club originally formed in Woolwich, and making it into multiple shirt designs from both Nike and Adidas over the years.
Arsenal third kit for 2025/26
Arsenal third kit for the new season borrows heavily from the club's away offering for the 2007/08 season and also marking the 20th anniversary of the club's final season at Highbury.
Look closely and you'll see that there are art deco graphics and details in there, as is the Adidas Trefoil logo.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa home kit for 2025/26
Aston Villa's kit for the 2025/26 season sees the Midlanders continuing their deal with Adidas and features the usual claret and blue design with golden cuff detailing, in a nod to the grand facade of Villa Park's iconic Holte End
Aston Villa away kit for 2025/26
The Villa away top for next season has got cult classic written all over it. While it keeps things refreshingly simple, it's meaner than last year's navy, while Adidas has injected some architectural flair, with this one apparently taking cues from Birmingham's iconic Bullring.
You can really see it in that subtle dotted pattern – a slick nod to the shopping centre that makes this shirt stand out without shouting about it. The light blue detailing against the black is just spot on, too.
And seriously, have you seen the badge? That touch of blue lining around it is just pure class. Villa looked incredibly sharp in that navy and silver number last season, especially under the European lights, and this new black and light blue beauty has all the potential to deliver that same level of cool.

A FootyHeadlines leak has revealed that Aston Villa's off-white third kit, with claret and blue trim, will have a stained-glass-inspired pattern. As an Adidas elite team for next season, the manufacturer's Trefoil logo will also be used.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth home kit for 2025/26
Bournemouth have launched their kit for the 2025/26 campaign, with Umbro again on on manufacturing duties.
The familiar red and black stripes are present, as is 'a subtle sand-textured pattern woven into each stripe,' a nod to the town's coastline.
Umbro have been the Cherries' kit supplier since 2017 and signed a five-year extension to that deal in 2021, which will take them until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Bournemouth's away kit brings back black and blue stripes for the first time since the 2011/12 season, along with an embroidered aqua crest and their AFCB initials featuring on the rear neckline.

Brentford
Brentford home kit for 2025/26
After two years of wearing the same home kit – in refreshing contrast to most other clubs – Brentford have confirmed their new home shirt for the new season.
The Bees' deal with Umbro has now ended and there's a new kit supplier in town at the Gtech Community Stadium: Joma have just released the Bees' new home shirt. As you'd expect, it features red and white stripes and celebrates 100 years of Brentford players sporting that particular design.

Brentford's have gone for the lesser-spotted brown and gold look for their new away kit, as they go down the nickname route and celebrate their connection to bees and nature.
Bee-wing pattersn are seen across the shirt along with a single Brentford bee badge, lus a special bee logo on the back and sleeves.
Brentford third kit for 2025/26
Another kit with a nod to history, as Brentford's third shirt brings back the oigial colours of Brentford Rowing Club, which were adopted when the Bees were established 1889. It's a blue short with claret and salmon stripes across the front, with a central badge.
Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton & Hove Albion home kit for 2025/26
Yep, that's definitely a Brighton shirt, isn't it?
Nike don't exactly push the boat out for teams who aren't considered their biggest hitters – and sometimes they don't even go all out for them – meaning that Brighton's shirts over the last few years have been decidedly hit-and-miss. This one falls under the category of “safe without having the wow factor”.
The collar follows Nike's recent asymmetrical trend (it's not for us), while Albion themselves note that this one “features hyper turq for the first time” (turquoise, we think), though the shade only really features under the arms and on the Swoosh. Still, thick stripes are back and it's inoffensive enough.
Brighton & Hove Albion away kit for 2025/26
If a lack of purple football kits in recent years - other than Fiorentina, of course - has grinded your gears, then this one will be tick your box.
Featuring two shades of purple in three thick stripes with a central badge and Swoosh, this one may well divide the fans, but it's good to see the Seagulls taking a swing.
Brighton & Hove Albion third kit for 2025/26
In recent seasons, Brighton have donned last season's away kit as the current season's third, meaning the stunning yellow-and-black striped effort of this term is set to return for another campaign.
There's nothing to dislike. The slightly-thicker-than-pinstripes look regal on this one, the touches of white are inspired and the pointy bits off the collar give us 2002 World Cup vibes. It's one of Brighton's best in recent seasons.
Burnley
Burnley home kit for 2025/26
Burnley are back in the Premier League and their new home shirt takes inspiration from 'the rugged landscape that surrounds Burnley'.
This seems to involve mapping and contour lines that are triggering memories of Year 10 geography classes, but, hey, it's something a bit different, isn't it?
Burnley away kit for 2025/26
Burnley's blue and white away kit features claret detail and has been created using soundwaves of chants and singing recorded at Turf Moor, with the club urging their fans to 'bring the noise' ahead of the new season.

Chelsea
Chelsea home kit for 2025/26
The new Chelsea home kit sees the reintroduction of red and white, a choice that might initially raise eyebrows given its association with Tottenham and Arsenal. However, this is deeply rooted in the club's history, having graced iconic fan favourites like the 1994/95 home shirt and the 2018/19 Europa League winner, proving its place within the Blues' identity.
Following two seasons of notably weird designs – which both opted for an iridescent logo over a traditional crest – this kit marks a return to form. This back-to-basics approach genuinely feels like Chelsea, providing precisely what the club needs right now, both on and off the pitch. Nike has truly excelled with this one.
Chelsea away kit for 2025/26
Chelsea's new away kit is a trip down memory lane, arriving on a crisp white base with distinctive green and red pinstripes running through its core. This isn't just a random design: it's a clear nod to a proper cult classic from Chelsea's past, drawing inspiration from Hungary's legendary 'Magnificent Magyars' side.
The story goes that former boss Dave Sexton introduced an away strip as a direct tribute to that iconic Hungarian team back in the mid-1970s. This redesigned version keeps those central stripes a little less bold than the original, but it remains a truly touching homage to yesteryear.
Much like several beloved Chelsea away kits, the clean white design returns, with those subtle red and green dotted stripes really adding a smooth, sophisticated flair, already winning over the Blues fanbase online.
Chelsea third kit for 2024/25
Nike are using a familiar colour scheme for Chelsea's third kit, which will be predominately black, say FootyHeadlines, with elements of silver and blue. Umbro and Adidas did similar at several points earlier this century.
A classic crest, where the lion is intertwined with the club's initials (CFC), is expected to be used.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace home kit for 2025/26
Crystal Palace's home shirt for new season is again made by Macron and sees a return to solid, bold stripes after last year's more jazzy detailing.
The aforementioned stripes are slightly small and feature a white trim, alongside a white, red and blue v-neck.
Crystal Palace away kit for 2025/26
Palace have gone gold for their 2025/26 away kit, to celebrate last season's FA Cup victory. Given how long it takes to get a kit signed off and launched, the Eagles were extremely confident of landing the first major trophy in their history last season, or they've made a late pivot, but either way, this Macron effort features a buttoned collar with black detailing and their founding date of '1861' on their socks.

Everton
Everton home kit for 2025/26
Castore have played it by the book when it comes to a football kit for the first season in a new stadium, haven't they?
It was obvious that Everton were going to have something inspired by their landmark first season at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with this new top reflecting the Mersey with an all-over wave pattern. Well, given that the new ground is also next to a sewage works, we can't wait for next season's shirt.
