West Ham manager David Moyes has revealed that the club have received confirmation from Premier League referees that full-back Vladimir Coufal should not have been sent off against Arsenal earlier this month.
With the Gunners holding a narrow one-goal advantage in the second half at the Emirates Stadium, Coufal was adjudged to have brought down Alexandre Lacazette inside the penalty area despite seemingly making contact with the ball.
The Czech defender was given a second yellow card for the challenge, meaning that West Ham had to play the remainder of the game with 10 men.
Lacazette missed the resulting penalty, but Mikel Arteta's men went on to win the match 2-0.
Coufal's dismissal came just three days after the Hammers were not awarded a penalty themselves when Craig Dawson appeared to be brought down in the box by Dwight McNeil in West Ham's 0-0 draw at Burnley.
Speaking on Tuesday, Moyes claimed that he had been informed that both decisions were incorrect.
'I think that this year the referees have had their best performances until the last couple of weeks,' he told reporters.
'We have got clarification from the referees that it was the wrong decision to send (Coufal) off and that we should have had a penalty at Burnley.
'I find it really hard that we have two sets of eyes and they are not getting it correct. I have been a football player and a manager, I would hope if I'm sitting in front of a TV from four or five angles I would have a really good opinion.
'And if I was unsure I'd send the referee over to collaborate rather than leaving it to one person.'
West Ham will now have to cope without the suspended Coufal when they face Tottenham in their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash on Wednesday.
The Irons have already seen off both Manchester clubs in this season's competition, but they enter the match having only won one of their last six league games.

If Vladimir coufal wouldn't have been sent off according to referees of the premier league, what becomes the penalty for those match officials who officiated the game? I f this was a player, even after the game, that player would still be penalized. This is totally a SHAME.

Me too. Coufal's tackle was relatively high, up to Laca's ankle and just below his knee, but he did get a fair chunk of the ball and not a lot of the player. Anthony Taylor paused for around 3 seconds before pointing to the penalty spot. I think he thought at first glance that it was a clean tackle but after seeing Lacazette's overexaggerated reaction while falling down, he felt there was contact. It's no problem for the on-pitch referee to not have the clearest view of the incident but the VAR officials are guilty for overlooking Taylor's mistake. If they reviewed it, we woudn't have gotten a penalty and West Ham would've continued to push for an equaliser with all 11 men on the pitch. The decision effectively sealed the win for us. That being said, we outplayed them throughout the game and fully deserved the win. Lacazette missing the penalty was a small degree of justice for them too. Losing a player is what made them struggle for the rest of the game, they'd have gotten more chances to score if the VAR officials were competent that day. Then again, it's not the first time English referees have been guilty of being clueless m0r0ns and it certainly won't be the last..

That is a very objective and impartial assessment to the game. 👍

It’s Anthony Taylor what do you expect 😂
The VAR officials are more guilty than Taylor for overlooking the incident. They get to replay the incident from all angles on a screen several times while Taylor had to make a decision based only on what he saw just once in real time from a certain field of view.

That’s great, I didn’t remember them admitting these bad calls before. There’s been a lot of bad sending offs. There’s been times when the didn’t and never admitted it.
