Latest transfer news as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham can continue their summer business with a string of free transfers following the expiration of a number of contracts
July is now upon us and transfer season is well underway.
As of yesterday, June 30, footballers all over the world became free agents after their contracts expired. Some players have already agreed pre-contract moves to their next clubs while many are considering their options.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea have all already made their first moves in the transfer window. The Gunners paid £65 million for Germany international Kai Havertz with Christopher Nkunku signing for Chelsea from RB Leipzig. Ange Postecoglou has begun moulding his squad at Spurs with the acquisitions of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison.
However, there is often the possibility that a number of 'free' transfers will be considered by clubs, especially nowadays. In recent years, players have opted to run down their contracts at clubs to have the ability to secure a move elsewhere.
For example, one player that has been constantly linked with a big-money transfer is Wilfried Zaha. A £200,000-per-week offer has been put forward by Crystal Palace, but the forward has not made a decision on his future amid interest from Al-Nassr and Atletico Madrid.
There are also a range of familiar faces from the Premier League. Roberto Firmino, David De Gea, Adama Traore, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jesse Lingard are now without a club. Angel Di Maria, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Cuadrado, Sead Kolasinac, Ross Barkley, Stephen El Shaarawy, Sergio Ramos and Daley Blind are all now free agents.
Aaron Ramsey and Ross Barkley have both left French side OGC Nice, while former Tottenham right-back Matt Doherty is now a former Atletico player.
Elsewhere, Eden Hazard, Jonathan Bamba and Daichi Kamada are without a club. There are also a number of players reaching the end of their career who are looking for their final club. Radamel Falcao, Samir Handanovic, Danilo D'Ambrosio and Jerome Boeteng have all left their respective clubs.
